The Rev. Elvin Woodrow Smith died December 12, 2004, at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
A priest for 60 years, he served as vicar of St. Simons Episcopal
Church in San Fernando, where he and parishioners prepared 22,000
bricks by hand to build St. Simons Episcopal Church. (Apparently they
did a good jobSt. Simons was one of the few buildings to come through
the 1971 San Fernando earthquake unscathed). He served as rector of St.
Patricks in Santa Maira, Canon Pastor of St. Marks Cathedral in
Seattle, Washington, and rector of St. Clements in Berkeley. He is
survived by his wife, Ruth, and two children Cameron and Kati. |
