While currently listed in the Diocesan Directory as Episcopal Engaged Encounter, the content has been strongly updated and tightened ministry and recently renamed as Basics 4 Marriage. It is open to both engaged and newly married couples. A kickoff Friday evening is followed by a full Saturday retreat. It is low cost ($199/couple) and is a very private retreat with no group sharings. It is held at St. Paul's Episcopal church at 1924 Trinity Ave, Walnut Creek. Attending couples are housed overnight at the Walnut Creek Marriott hotel. All materials, meals, and housing are included in the fee. Attendance is limited to 15 couples. Pre registration is required. Those registered receive all necessary instuctions and directions.
